"EGNOS & GALILEO at the service of urban mobility challenges"

Wednesday 19 December 2007, 10:00-16:00
Venue: Unioncamere, Piazza Sallustio 21 - Roma

!!! Rome welcomed the 4th and final GIROADS Workshop. Proceedings available here.  !!!

The theme:

According to a Green Paper recently published by the European Commission, cities all over Europe face similar and increasing problems (congestion, road safety, security, pollution, climate change due to CO2 emissions etc.). Inaction would result in Europe having to pay an even higher price both in economic and environmental terms, as well as for the health and quality of life of European citizens.

Fortunately, one answer to the miseries suffered by commuters may come from the sky with the progressive availability of EGNOS and GALILEO signals for urban mobility applications ranging from traffic information services to pay as you drive schemes.

The last in a cycle of four free workshops organised by the GIROADS project will encourage discussions on urban applications made possible with Europe’s satellite navigation systems supported by a presentation of the main results of several field trials held in September 2007.
